Who might need white fillings?
You may need a white filling if:

You may be advised that you need a white filling after a general consultation or check-up, or you might visit the dentist after experiencing pain or discomfort from the damaged tooth.
Silver, mercury, and other metal fillings are a thing of the past. Nowadays, we have a natural-looking white filling material which blends beautifully with your teeth to create a fantastic result that has great longevity.
When we restore teeth, we ensure the tooth is free from decay and correctly prepared. A gel is applied which cleans and lightly roughens the tooth surface prior to applying a thin liquid which bonds the white filling onto the tooth. The white filling is then placed and blended into the tooth. Once it has been sculpted to ensure the correct anatomy has been followed it is light cured to set the material. The filling is then polished and the bite is checked to ensure it fits nicely within the jaw. As soon as it’s done, you can eat on it straight away!

If your tooth is cracked or chipped significantly you may want to choose a crown instead to improve the appearance of your tooth. You can also have veneers fitted if you would like to improve the appearance of your teeth but don’t need a filling.
