Rediscover your confidence
and smile with new dentures
A dental denture is an appliance which is worn to replace lost or missing teeth to enable you to enjoy a healthy diet and smile with confidence. They can be secured into place utilising the existing teeth or by covering your palate to get a suction effect. Dentures can help give you your smile and confidence back, reducing facial muscle sagging, supporting cheeks and lips, and giving you a full set of teeth that you want the world to see.
How are dentures made?
A complete or full denture is one that replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaw.
A partial denture fills in the spaces created by lost or missing teeth and is attached to your natural teeth with metal clasps or devices called precision attachments.
The base of a denture is called a plate and can be made of either acrylic (plastic) or metal. The teeth are normally made of acrylic and can be made to match your natural teeth. This is especially important in the case of partial dentures.

I visited to have two teeth extractions a few weeks ago and was so frightened. I saw Dr Shivani and she was very calming and extremely professional at all times, I can honestly say one of the best practitioners in oral health I've been seen by. I would highly recommend this Dental surgery to anyone wanting highly professional, PAIN FREE - excellent experience. Thank you so much x Leigh Shilton.
Great dentist, very professional and helpful. Dr Avi and various employees always make my experience here very pleasant.

Really kind and friendly dentist, highly recommend!
A big thank you to all at Gentle Dental for the work and support they provided over the last 12 months. Kam, Shivani, Daniela, Nina all were great to deal with.
I loved my entire experience with Gentle Dental Care! The staff are all so friendly and accommodating and always willing to help wherever they can! I’m also super happy with my results! I highly recommend Dr Avi and the team!
This dental practice has had a transformation since I visited a year ago for my regular check up and hygiene. The practice environment has had remodelling done making it look sleek and welcoming. Dr Anhaar continues to be the dentist there and as is always the case, her attention to detail is meticulous. I have had varied courses of treatments that started with a crown and a root canal to regular hygiene visits, and now my family and I continue to receive the care from her team. Hope you go from strength to strength and thank you for looking after our teeth.
I do not write reviews for the sake of it! But I've got to say that I received more info on dental care in that one half hour sitting, than at any other time in my life. The dentist was so passionate about her advice on preventative care; and a very holistic approach. The staff and general environment were very welcoming and comfortable throughout. The actual treatment was also of a high standard. Thanks guys!
Earlier this year, in March 2018 I went to Kam at Gentle Dental Care, very very much in pain. I had to have two back teeth extracted. I opted for sedation when having the teeth taken out. I chose to have these replaced with Implants once the extraction had healed. During this time I also had a crown put on another tooth. As a very nervous patient, I can honestly say from start to finish the whole process has been a breeze. I attended 5 visits in total and was sedated twice, once for the extraction and once for the initial implant procedure. Kam definitely lives up to his name of the most gentle dentist in Croydon and I can tell how much he cares about his patients and doing the very best for them. The whole team at the surgery are lovely, put me at ease and reassured me every step of the way. It has been painless in every sense of the word. A couple of weeks ago, I went for the last process of having the implant crowns fitted and they look amazing and I could not be happier. 😃 Thank you so much Kam and all your team. Pauline Lee
I am a VERY nervous patient due to bad experiences at dentists in the past. All the staff have been so friendly, helpful and reassuring, putting me at ease. I will have no problem returning for regular checkups as my confidence has been reinstalled. Thank you so much!!!

The benefits of dentures
These are the benefits you can enjoy with dentures:
- Long lasting. Dentures that are well looked after can last for up to 10 years, making them a long-term tooth replacement option.
- Cost-effective alternative. Dentures are often a more cost-effective option, costing less at the outset than other tooth replacement methods.
- Hygienic. Dentures are fully removable, so you can take them out to clean them, brush your teeth and maintain good oral hygiene.
- Reduced facial sagging. Tooth loss can cause sagging skin and muscles. Dentures provide support for the cheeks and lips to reduce this.
- Better quality of life. Missing teeth can reduce your ability to eat and speak. A full set of dentures helps overcome this.
Dentures for nervous patients
Dentures can be a good option for nervous patients as they don’t require invasive treatment. We will do everything in our power to make you feel comfortable and calm, including offering the option of IV or oral sedation if this is what you would like. We are experts in gentle dentistry and promise your treatment won’t hurt.
More permanent tooth replacement options
Dentures are a popular choice amongst patients, but there are other, more permanent options that might also suit you. Dental implants offer you an excellent option for replacing missing teeth permanently. Crowns and bridges might be used to restore teeth that are heavily chipped, damaged or filled.
