Set your child up with
a confident smile for life
Many of our older patients say they wished they had looked after their teeth better when they were younger. Don’t let your children make the same mistake – you have the ability to give them the best start in life. Shockingly, a quarter of five-year-olds in England have tooth decay, with an average of three or four teeth affected per child. What’s especially sad is that all of these cases could have been preventable. By implementing good oral hygiene, restricting excessive sugar and attending regular dental appointments, you can set your child up with healthy teeth and gums for life.
What dental services do we offer for children?
We offer all the regular dental services we offer for adults, but in a child-friendly environment. This means that we can provide:
We carry out treatments following a thorough consultation and examination. We will provide your child’s regular dental examinations to keep their teeth healthy throughout their childhood – these will usually take place every six months, but we will provide tailored advice depending on what your child needs.
We will always apply fluoride varnish at children’s appointments, which studies show substantially reduces dental decay.
At Gentle Dental Care you can book your child in for free! Contact us to arrange your consultation.

Dental treatments in a child-friendly environment
We want to make sure that children don’t build up a negative association with going to the dentist, welcoming them into a friendly environment.
These are some of the ways we can make your child’s dental appointment a pain-free experience:
- Patient, gentle dental care. Our dentists are highly trained and used to working with children. We make sure we don’t cause any pain or discomfort – gentle dentistry is our specialism.
- Ceiling televisions. Many of our younger patients actually enjoy coming to the dentist! That’s because our surgeries are fitted with ceiling TVs, so it’s a chance to catch up on their favourite shows.
- Sedation. If your child is already nervous we can discuss the option of sedation. This can help them to relax and to overcome a fear of the dentist if this is something they have already developed.
‘Kids Days’ –
Our Children’s Dental Services
We have a fantastic reputation in the community for promoting children’s health. We hold a ‘Kids’ Day’ twice a year, which involves dentists dressing up as superheroes and cartoon characters. On the day, there will be face painters, clowns and a lot of effort is made to ensure it’s a very positive experience for the children. It’s a great way to help children associate the dentist with positive experiences, so if you have a nervous younger patient we’d love you to bring them along.
The importance of children’s dentistry
Children are our future and we must give them the very best start in life. The team at Gentle Dental Care strongly believe that prevention is better than cure and this is why we make every effort to ensure children don’t have dental problems early in life. This then translates into adulthood and it’s our aim that our patients keep healthy teeth for life.
Studies show that adults who have had regular examinations and have had good dietary habits early in life will adopt good habits later in life, meaning healthier teeth and gums.
Contact the team at Gentle Dental Care to discuss children’s dentistry further. Our patient, gentle dental team will make your child’s experience of visiting the dentist as calm as can be. Book in for a consultation and let’s see how we can be of assistance.
