Updated Monday 30th March 2020

A message of thanks to our friends and relatives working in the NHS

Over the last few weeks, we have all witnessed the NHS swell under tremendous pressure from this sudden tsunami called COVID-19. It’s been extremely tough on top of the extra demand that the winter season usually places on its resources. It is only going to get worse. NHS doctors and nurses are working hard from minute-to-minute, hour-by-hour, to make sure that patients are looked after, and we are immensely grateful for that.

We at Gentle Dental Care Group are looking at various ways we can support them at this time including potentially asking some staff to join on the frontlines. Many companies have come out with fantastic offers for NHS staff. For those of us working from home or in self-isolation, let’s all stand outside and give a round of applause for our carers on Thursday 26 March at 8pm!

We will continue to provide emergency dental appointments to the public and our valued patients in the Croydon and Bromley areas during this time. We have increased our staff and diary capacities to ensure we are able to maintain the same level of care and most importantly increased sanitation of our practices.

We will maintain the same opening hours to ensure availability for these urgent emergency dental visits. Weekend appointments will still be available with prior arrangement. Simply email team@gentledentalcaregroup.co.uk to make a booking or call us on 0203 925 3846 if needed.

Dear valued patient

Although current guidelines suggest avoiding non-essential treatments for the time being, at some point you may need to get in touch with our emergency dentist in Croydon and Bromley for help. To make things a little less stressful in what may seem like a nightmare scenario, we’ve provided a handy guide of things to do before and after you get in touch with our team.

Be certain that it’s an emergency

The first, and perhaps most important piece of advice we can provide, is to be completely sure that the problem you have qualifies as something our emergency dentist can accept.

Generally, you should give us a call right away on 0203 925 3846 or email team@gentledentalcaregroup.co.uk if there’s excessive damage to or loss of a tooth, bleeding, signs of an infection or an intense and prolonged pain in your teeth and gums.

Book an appointment right away

After figuring out that your situation warrants immediate aid, you should get in touch with us right away. The sooner you can book an appointment with our emergency team the quicker we can fix your tooth troubles and in some cases time can play a big factor on how much of your teeth we can save.

For example, if there’s an infection the longer you leave it untreated the more it can start to pose a risk to other teeth, your gums or even the bone. So as soon as you see something serious, please give us a call.

Follow up with your regular dentist

After your treatment you should schedule an appointment with your regular dentist to check on the repairs, or for them to provide a more permanent solution to your dental problem.

These are just a few things you can do to make your trip to our emergency team a little less stressful. If you think your current situation warrants immediate treatment, then get in touch us right away.

Rest assured we will keep up the increased disinfection of our practices including non-clinical areas like door handles, bathrooms and public areas to exceed benchmarked recommendations.

Please share this information with any friends or family who may need an emergency appointment and all new patients remain welcome.

Dear valued patient

With our recent decision to move all non-emergency appointments to the summer, we would like to give you some more information on our new operating policy and when you might need emergency dental treatment in the Croydon, Bromley and the Greater London area.

Our expert dentists are here to help. We have dedicated specialist teams, which means you can have your whole emergency treatment can be completed at one clinic. Simply call us on 0203 925 3846 or email team@gentledentalcaregroup.co.uk to make a booking. Below are some of the problems and treatments we can provide:

  • Toothache can be caused from infections, decay or fractures. We can relieve pain by starting root canal treatment, removing teeth, placing fillings or giving antibiotics.
  • Broken dentures can be fixed rapidly by our team to avoid further complications.
  • Teeth de-bonded off dentures can be fixed quickly by re-bonding teeth back onto dentures.
  • Wisdom tooth pain is a common issue and can be effectively treated in a quick, timely manner.
  • Debonded crowns can be very urgent, especially if it’s a front tooth. Generally, these can be quick to re-cement; however, if the tooth is completely brokenwe may need to spend some time to ensure we fix your immediate cosmetic concerns.
  • Broken teeth or lost fillings can be a cosmetic issue and can sometimes be very painful. Normally a bonded white filling is the best solution and one that can be done during an emergency appointment.

Please share this information with any friends or family who may need emergency care and please remember that all new patients remain welcome.

Dear valued patient

As we all continue to navigate these uniquely challenging times we felt it important to update you on a few things.

Being a long-standing family run business in the Croydon and Bromley area we understand the importance of supporting our communities during this period. We want to be there in any way we can for both our friends and family with local businesses and most importantly our patients.

We will be moving non-emergency assessments including check-ups and most procedures to the summer. This will enable us to provide extra capacity for new or existing patients whether they are members of our practice or from a local practice where we can help.

Our incredible team has opened 5 times more emergency sessions, with the full complement of all our dentists including our specialists offering to assist enabling significantly more patients to be seen in this difficult time.

We will maintain the same opening hours to ensure availability for these urgent emergency dental visits. Weekend appointments will still be available with prior arrangement. Simply email team@gentledentalcaregroup.co.uk to make a booking or call us on 0203 925 3846 if needed.

We consider emergency dental care as any patient requiring immediate attention to minimise the risk of damage to or loss of a tooth, bleeding, signs of an infection or an intense and prolonged pain in your teeth and gums. If you are struggling with any of these, please contact us. The sooner you can book an appointment with our team the quicker we can assist giving you the best possible chance of saving teeth and getting you out of pain.

Rest assured we will keep up the disinfection of our practices including non-clinical areas like door handles, bathrooms and public areas to exceed benchmarked recommendations.

Please share this information with any friends or family who may need an emergency appointment and all new patients remain welcome.

To our valued patients,

  1. We would like to reassure you that the Gentle Dental Care Group will continue to serve our patients and follow all current government advice for healthcare professionals. We constantly monitor the National Guidance (link to www.gov.uk/coronavirus), which will no doubt be subject to change over the coming weeks.
  2. We deep clean all our practices with hospital-grade disinfectants and apply similar cross-infection protocols between appointments to ensure you are kept as safe as possible. We have also increased the disinfection of non-clinical areas like door handles, bathrooms and public areas to exceed benchmarked recommendations.
  3. We encourage all patients to use our public facilities onlywhen absolutely necessary. As per the government advice, the most important thing we can do to protect ourselves remains effective hand-washing for at least 20 seconds, with soap and water. When sneezing or coughing use a tissue (or elbow), and bin the tissue straight away, followed by hand-washing. Please avoid shaking hands and consider ‘elbow bumping’ or a ‘Namaste’ instead.
  4. Anyone wishing to pay by BACs or by telephone can do so prior to their appointment, this is recommended; failing this, the card machine is cleaned just before entering your pin.
  5. Please share this with any friend who may need an emergency appointment and all new patients remain welcome.
  6. Patients that have flu-like symptoms or persistent cough should avoid attending and instead call to reschedule.

During this period of extraordinary circumstances, if any of our patients cannot travel (for whatever reason) and are struggling to get basic items etc, please feel free to contact us and we as a practice will do what we can to continue to support our community.
